How the features of smaller water well drills make them ideal for remote drilling
Bringing water to hard-to-access locations is a vitally important job. To make it possible, it’s also crucial to ensure you’re using proper drilling equipment that provides the portability and versatility to meet the demands of remote drilling.
Small water well drills like our LS100 and LS200 mechanical portable water well drills offer the power and adaptability to tackle projects with a variety of soil types such as sand, clay and loam. We design these drills to be easily operated and maintained to conquer the crucial job of bringing water to remote areas from start to finish, no matter the crew’s experience level.
Below, we review the features of our mechanical portable well drilling rigs and how they’re designed to take on remote drilling.
When to Choose Smaller Rigs
Some jobs, such as those in developing nations or remote locations, require drilling in rough terrains while retaining maximum mobility — something that larger drills can’t do. The lightweight and easily transportable LS100 and LS200 are designed for these jobs. The LS100 efficiently drills a 6-inch borehole up to 100 feet in sandy and clay terrain, while the LS200 can reach 200-foot depths in sandy, clay-filled and gravelly soils.
On top of the efficiency and ease of use, smaller drill rigs are convenient to transport. The LS100 can be broken down to fit in a 91-by-24-by-30-inch crate. The LS200 can undergo the same process to pack into a 91-by-36-by-30-inch crate. The compact drills’ ability to be quickly broken down and transported also saves time, allowing crews to swiftly move from site to site.
Optimum Efficiency
We incorporate our years of experience and customer feedback from drilling in remote locations to design our portable drills to be as efficient as possible. We developed a Missionary Kit that includes everything necessary to succeed in challenging environments. The kit includes casing slips to efficiently set 4-inch casing and a flush tool designed to help clear mud from the borehole and replace it with clean water. A PVC Bailer is used to flush the hole and wash out fines and sediment, effectively pulling those loose materials out to create an efficient, clean water well.
Additionally, each unit is fully equipped with a toolbox with the necessary wrench for every bolt on the rig, a grease gun, pipe joint lubricant and a basic set of spare parts. The kit allows for easy setup and productive performance, virtually eliminating downtime when used by a skilled operator who knows how to maintain the machine.
