Getting clean water to those who need it is crucial and fulfilling work. We recognize the importance of this, and we’re here to help you identify the perfect Lone Star drill for your operation.

There are multiple considerations to weigh when selecting the proper drilling equipment. Below, we run through the functions and features of our different drill types to help you decide which is best for you.

  1. Mechanical Drills

Mechanical Water Well Drill KitMechanical drills have few moving parts, making them easy for less-experienced drillers to operate while minimizing the risk of accidental damage. The field-proven Mechanical series is the heart of the Lone Star Drills line that provides the power and versatility for almost any water well project. It gets the job done as simply as possible, providing operators of all experience levels an easy-to-use, efficient and durable rig. Our LS100 mechanical water well drill is designed for DIY water well drilling in developing countries. It efficiently drills up to 100 feet deep in sandy and clay soils. Our LS200 offers the same user-friendly features as the LS100 but is capable of drilling up to 200 feet deep in sand, clay and gravel.

The compact Mechanical series drills can be broken down and packaged in one crate, allowing for economical shipping almost anywhere in the world. Whether accessible by ATV, canoe or even strictly on foot, no location is too remote for these units.

  1. Hydraulic Drills

Our LS200H and LS300H models expand drilling depth to 200-300 feet in tougher terrains such as sand, clay and soft rock formations. Each drill’s powerful hydraulics deliver pullback and pushdown forces up to 5,000 pounds. A more robust hydraulic system and more powerful engine give the LS200H+ and LS300H+ the added boost to tackle soft rock and even some hard rock formations. The enhanced hydraulic system provides increased reliability, serviceability and peace of mind.

Both the Mechanical and Hydraulic units feature a swivel design offering easy repair and part replacement in the field.

  1. Trailer-Mounted Drills

These drills are also typically quicker to set up than their freestanding counterparts. Our trailer-mounted units offer the ultimate combination of power and transportability. Mounted on a single-axle trailer, the LST1 and LST1+ offer added convenience for locations that allow ATV, UTV or small truck access and can drill up to 300 feet deep. The LST1+ provides greater speed and power with a 3,000-psi hydraulic system for 95 rpm at 10 gpm. Each can work in sand, clay and hard rock formations.

For increased performance, look to our LS300T+. The unit features our most powerful hydraulics for drilling 6-inch boreholes up to 300 feet. The robust hydraulic system generates up to 5,000 pounds of pullback/pushdown force to push beyond the trailer’s weight. It remains highly transportable and can be towed by a four-wheel drive truck or SUV. If you need to drill deeper, we offer the LS400T+, the largest drill in the Lone Star Drills line, which boasts a 400-foot drilling depth. The drill’s hydraulic system features pullback force of up to 15,000 pounds and pushdown force of up to 9,000 pounds for getting through dense rock formations. It conveniently ships fully assembled in a 20-foot container.
